MaxDB and Suse 9.1

MaxDB and Suse 9.1

Hi,

this seems to be an old problem. (All postings I could find on this are
from 2004). I am stuck with the 9.1 box and I getting very frustrated:

My problem is that I cannot get MaxDB to start on a Suse 9.1 box.
Whenever I want to start a database with dbmcli I get this error:

(MaxDb 7.5.0.44)
Check knldiag! Kernel exited with '-3' before reaching ADMIN state
(MaxDb 7.6.0.37)
Check knldiag! Kernel died before reaching ADMIN state (OS error code 11000)

I have seen a lot of messages recommending LD_ASSUME_KERNEL set to 2.2.5
or 2.4.1 and I have tried that unsuccessfully. Also the release notes
for the more recent MaxDb releases suggest that this is already handled
automatically.

So, what can I do ? knldialog is not created for my database (folder is
not even created). I also tried a new install of Suse 9.1 in a virtual
machine and only installed the maxdb_ind package and then maxdb_srv
pacakges. Same problem.

Not sure if this helps but this is my command sequence:
/opt/sdb/programs/bin/x_server start
/opt/sdb/programs/bin/dbmcli
> db_create -u DATABASE dbm,dbm
> bye
/opt/sdb/programs/bin/dbmcli -d DATABASE -u dbm,dbm db_online

Thanks,

Robert
