Database hangs, deadlock detection

Database hangs, deadlock detection

Hello,
I'm using MaxDb 7.6.0.12 on Linux Suse ES 9.

My database hangs during normal working.
I don't know what is DB exactly doing (what SQL statement is running).
I cannot connect to DB (SQL Studio, DbmGUI), so it seams that xserver is
waiting for something.
How can I found out what is database doing at the moment?

I have had some problems with deadlocks on my DB before.
But DB behavior was different, because when deadlock occurs I can connect
to database (SQL Studio and DbmGUI)
and see not locked tables. I cannot find some detailed information how
does deadlock detection works in MaxDb.
There is DEADLOCK_DETECTION in extended DB parameters, but what does
"search level" means ?
I have default setting (DEADLOCK_DETECTION = 4) and DB was not able to
detect very simple deadlock
(onle 2 tables and 2 processes was blocked each other).
How should I set it properly?

Thank you for support
  Dusan
