It's always the problem with binary compatibility  between Perl versions.

I've tried to create an archive with the main source and a library so that you
should be able to compile it for your Perl:
ftp://ftp.sap.com/pub/sapdb/bin/tmp/sapdb-perl-linux-i386-7.4.03.33a.tgz

Unpack it and run
make loadercperl.so PERLINCLUDE=/usr/lib/perl5/5.8.1/i586-linux-thread-multi
/CORE

Test it with
PERL5LIB=`pwd`:$PERL5LIB perl -e "use SAP::DBTech::loader;"

If this works, then I'll try to create a proper Makefile.PL
